I have to say....2008 has been the year of technology for the Nelson family. We got cell phones, we upgraded from Dial Up, we got call waiting, and we got more than 4 channels on our TV (which, I admit, I'm not that crazy about....but, we had to go with "the whole package" for the discount!)
AND....we've recently discovered skype-ing. We made a $40 invest and purchased the cheapest webcam we could find at Best Buy. Check out www.skype.com. We have been able to do FREE video phone calls to my parents in Arizona. They have been snow-birding there for almost 2 months....and the kids miss them, and of course they miss the kids. So, we "called" eachother the other night. It's just like being on the phone, except you can SEE them through your computer/webcam. It's amazing and so so cool!! This would be so amazing if our Aussie family could jump on the band wagon too. The best part, it's completely free. It just is awesome to be able to see eachother...see how the kids have grown, etc. So, who has a webcam? Who wants to Skype with us???

We've been skyping for 2.5 years!! It is how we talk with Davin when he's on the road. And we set the laptop at the head of the table sometimes and "have dinner with him" :)
We are just getting ready to get Skype!! My SIL called us from Africa using a skype account. It was only 2 cents a minute!!! You can use yours Becky to call Tony's family even if they don't have skype. Just call their house number. We can't wait to get it set up so the kids can talk with their cousins in Africa.
We do too!!! It's so much fun! We were able to talk with my brother and SIL when they were on a mission and they got to see their kids. So much fun!!
