To Blog or NOT to Blog?

That is the question. Just putting a tester/feeler out there to see if this is something I want to get back into. I miss the release I get from writing....I don't have a lot of "extra" time per se. But, I have loved going back and seeing the "blasts from the pasts" that have wound the road to where our family is now...

for now...

Sometimes God just picks the road for ME...

2010 has started out to be a crazy year, already full of big changes in store for our family. God is leading us, calling us down a different path.
To begin:
We've pulled Amelia from preschool to do solid homeschooling. We've discovered that Amelia has a very different learning style, and one that is not being met at her current school setting. So, as we've begun working with her at home, we are trying to find out what works for her and her artistic little mind. It's been an interesting challenge...but, we are getting there.

Secondly, I am transfering to a different Starbucks on March 22nd. There have been some scary moments at my current store that seriously made me question my safety. Along with that, I am trying to plan for my future with a new little baby, and physically, I know it won't be possible to be up till 1:00am, AND sanely nurse and care for a newborn baby, as well as homeschool. I'm both excited, and nervous about the change. It's always hard to go into
'un-charted' territory. I am stepping down from management to make this change, but I HAVE to do what is best for me and my family. And for them, I'll do whatever it takes.

Thirdly, if you haven't heard, we are having a little girl. We are due July 23rd!!

Because Washington Law is discussing SERIOUS budget cuts for ALL Alternative Learning centers, including River Homelink....I am signing up for a course to become a "certified" homeschooler. Basically, it just means that I can teach on my own and don't have to have the accountability of going through a WA state certified teacher. I am praying DESPERATELY that they don't cut RHL, it has blessed our socks off, and Elijah has THRIVED in their program. I don't know what it will look like if they cut that option out of MANY homeschoolers. Please pray, call your state representatives...DON'T let them cut this vital aspect out of our state. I am excited for the course and just want to learn as much as I can.

Today's Perfect Day

Tony let me sleep in till 9:30am. Woke up to BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE!
Got dressed, walked the dog, the kids, and my pregnant buns UP the hill to the park!
Played, and played, and played some more.
Walked home...
Jumped in the car and took a beautiful drive to McMennamins Edgefield!
It was a perfect day for some Edgefield exploring and lunch!
Came home, had a wonderful nap...
woke up to flash lights in my eye balls (okay, so the day was ALMOST perfect!)
Now, spending some more quality family time. I loved today!

Off to Vancouver

Elijah and I are at the start of an EXTREMELY fun unit study on the Winter Olympics. We've learned a lot about Olympic history so far and Elijah got to make his very own Olympic Torch. (pictures later)... Part of our study is allowing him to stay up and watch the Opening Ceremony tonight. That is still one of the highlights for me...I LOVE the opening ceremony. Later on, we'll make an Olive Branch Wreath and Olympic Medal as well, as learning more about the history of the games and what the games stand for. So, so fun!!

As for me, the pregnancy is going really well. I've had two really good check ups. We find out the sex on the 23rd at our ultrasound. VERY excited for that. Been a little tired, but I've also been working a lot more...so, that's to be expected.

Looks like Tony's headed to Palm Springs again next month with a good friend for Indian Wells. I'm going to take that week off work! WHOO HOO! Not looking forward to him being gone, but right now, a week off work sounds heavenly!

Cirque du Soleil is coming back to Portland in April. They seem to have a pattern of coming every two years, and since it's around 'somebodies' birthday time...we get to go. My dear friend sent me a 'buy one get one free' coupon on tickets...so, we got SPECTACULAR seats this year. I am COUNTING down the days! Happy Birthday!

Okay, time has slipped...of to watch the ceremony!! GO USA & AUSTRALIA!!

OMSI or bust

The Nelson Academy took our first 'official' field trip to OMSI! What a blast. OMSI had a free open house to all "teacher's" (ie: homeschooling teachers) and EVERYTHING was free! We got to see a VERY bright laser light show. We saw "Roving Mars" in the OMNIMAX theater. The kids got to fly in a space capsule. We learned a TON about space and what astronauts wear, where they sleep, what they eat, etc. We got to see what stage baby Nelson is at in mommy's tummy....how cool that was!

Then...we ventured into the live critter section. God helped me! Oh, boy!
Amelia wanted to HOLD the TARANTULA!? I had to question if that was actually my child requesting to hold a spider AND a snake! Thank goodness Miss Wendy wasn't willing to get the spider out. So, instead, they got to pet the bearded dragon all the way from Australia, AND a rat! The kids were...fearless. I on the other hand....well, I was VERY brave to even set foot in the room. That's normally "Tony's Department!" LOL

I wish I had known all winter how cool of a place OMSI is, AND how age appropiate it is for our kids!! I would LOVE to get a membership there. We'll see....maybe in the future!!
